Under 12s emerged narrow 6-8-44 to 6-6-42 winners in an entertaining clash while the 14s (13.15.93 to 0.3.3), 17s (21.17.143 to 1.1.7) and youth girls (8.19.67 to 0.2.2) were far too strong in their games.
“I can’t remember the last time that the under 12s won in my time here. It was a really strong performance,” AFL Central West Development Coordinator Casey White said.
“Sometimes it’s hard when you’re the travelling team but it was good to see so many kids out there playing some great footy.”
The 14s and 17s backed up their wins from last year’s meeting while the under 12s turned around a 26-point loss in 2017.
White said it’s exciting to see AFL in the region growing at the junior level.

“The coaching staff have trained well with the kids. It’s great to see a lot of younger boys coming through and also great to see the results show from our youth girls program,” he said.
“These results show that what we’re doing is working and that the kids are all getting something out of it.
“We’re moving in the right direction going into the Shoalhaven Junior Carnival next month. That will be tough but it’s a great chance to see where we’re at.”
Willow Smith was named best on ground for the Central West youth girls.
Nic Broes backed up his 2017 best on ground award for the under 17s by winning the medal once again.
Will Sloan’s hard work in the close under 12s match was rewarded when he was declared the best player on the day.
The juniors’ next test, the Shoalhaven Junior Representative Carnival, will take place from July 6 to 8.
