And right now there’s no harder team to travel away and play than Narromine Gorrillas.
It’s a difficult task and it’s the one that’s facing CSU, when they travel north to play the undefeated Gorillas at Cale Oval in their round 10 match on Saturday.
CSU are currently five points off fourth-placed Blayney, who currently occupy a finals position.
Narromine are a staggering 26 points ahead of the students and 16 points ahead of second place, so a win over the Gorillas will be nothing short of remarkable.
Even with all that in perspective, CSU coach Luke Kelly is feeling upbeat heading into the away trip.
“With them being undefeated, there’s no pressure on us. It’s all on them,” he said.
“We’ll just go out there and give it a good crack.
“It’s a huge game for us boys but there’s no reason why, if we play our best rugby, we can’t win.”
CSU have already played Narromine this season, at University Oval, losing 46-29 in a spirited performance which included a hat-trick to Central West Blues Bulls representative Lochie Robinson.
Kelly said it would be incredible if CSU could be the first team to knock-off Narromine this season.
“It would be amazing if we could jag a win, especially on their pitch,” he said.
“Narromine have a big pack and they like to pick and drive.
“They’ll want to play the game through their forwards.
“It’ll be a physical game and Narromine will want to play up front but we’ll try and play it out wide.”
The big away trip to Narromine doesn’t come at a good time, with CSU currently in the middle of its mid-year break.
“It’s tough times on the road and with uni holidays but that’s no excuse,” Kelly said.
“We’ll just have to do the best with what we have.”
Kelly said CSU has been travelling well in the new tier.
“We’ve had some set backs but we’ve been travelling well,” he said.
“We know we can give it to everyone on our day.
“We want to come home with a wet sail. If we can get that fourth spot, anything could happen from there.”
While CSU are currently in second last place, they’re quite unlucky to be there considering their results.
The club’s biggest loss this season has been by 17 points, against Narromine last month.
Kick-off between CSU and Narromine is at 3.15pm from Cale Oval.
