The Bathurst-based developer recently launched its Everywhere Venues website, that aims to make comparing and booking venues easier, and are now working on an important element of it, Accessible Bathurst.
The project will ensure the point of difference for this venue booking website will be its in-depth information on the accessibility of venues.
Appiwork has offered supported placement as it works on this aspect of Everywhere Venues, so people with disabilities can gain work experience while being part of a project of significance to them.
Vivability's community access manager Ruth Thurtell, said it is an opportunity clients are looking forward to.
"The guys are really excited about the prospect of being employed," she said.
“Zoe [Hida, from Appiwork] is going to be writing references for them about the skills they’ve built.”
There are six clients from Vivability that will be participating in project, by helping to carry out the assessments of venues looking to have a listing on Everywhere Venues.
They intend to build on the skills they already have.
Jonny Palumbo has a love of computers and is quite tech savvy, so he will assist with the website itself.
"I’m going to be inputting data onto the website," he said.
Other clients plan to have conversations with businesses, check off criteria venues are being assessed by and help take photos of the venues.
Ms Thurtell said the project will likely benefit from the input Vivability’s clients will have.
“It makes sense to have people who are going to be using these venues doing the assessments,” she said.
More businesses and community groups are invited to list their bookable spaces on the new website.
