The draft budget set aside just $500 for the annual event at Sofala but Councillor Jess Jennings proposed an increase as part of council’s efforts to support events in the villages.
The extra money will come from the sundry Section 356 fund, which will now start the financial year with a balance of just $8500.
Rebellion on the Turon was one of just two local events to have their 2018-19 grants increased in the final budget.
The other was the Edgell Jog, which had its annual contribution from council raised from $6000 to $13,000, largely to help pay for the increasing cost of traffic control.
Bathurst Golf Club had sought an amendment to the draft budget that would see the pricing for its raw water reviewed, but councillors voted retain the current pricing structure that delivers annual savings to the golf club of $5720, while the Bathurst District Sport & Recreation Council was unsuccessful in its bid for an extra $10,000 on top of its annual grant of $20,000.
