Bathurst Art Gallery school holiday activity: Metal works from 1.30pm. For ages seven to 17 years. Cost: $10 per child. Call 6333 6555 to book.

Bathurst Bridge Club welcomes new members and beginners with lessons. Five bridge sessions are held each week at the clubhouse in Lower Mitre Street. Contact the secretary on 0437 270 618 for more details.

See the 1968 sci-fi/horror cult classic Night Of The Living Dead, directed by George A Romero, at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum at 6pm. Cost: $20 adult, $15 concession (not suitable for children under 15). Book a table for four or five people or single seats. Call 6331 5511.

Journalist and former foreign correspondent with The Guardian, Ben Doherty, will visit the Bathurst Library this Friday, July 13 at 6.15pm to talk about his debut novel Nagaland, which is set in the far north of India. Call 6333 6281.

Brew and Bite will be held from noon to 9pm as part of the Bathurst Winter Festival. Enjoy a variety of market stalls, more mulled wine, whisky and gin and the famous Garden Bar.

Bathurst Arts Council will be hosting free pavement chalk art. Kids and adults will be able to have some creative fun while wandering through the Winter Playground or while waiting for their turn on the McDonald's Bathurst Ice Rink, House of Mirrors or ferris wheel. From July 16-20, 10am-4pm.
