Bred, trained and owned by Bathurst’s Gemma Rue, Kash Us Back ($2 favourite) was fully fit and leaving his opponents in the dust during the HRNSW Guaranteed Two Year Old Pace (2040 metres).
Kash Us Back, a two-year-old Changeover gelding out of Laughing Lilly, was given a one in five chance of making it to the track – assuming that he’d even pull through his illness.
Not only did he make it to the track, he decimated the opposition in his debut.
Kash Us Back held the lead from start to finish. On the turn for home he turned up the heat and finished 9.5m clear of the next closest runner Little Miss Daisy.
You could see how much the win meant to winning driver Mat Rue as he gave a passionate salute to the crowd while Kash Us Back dashed past the post.
Kash Us Back’s winning mile rate was 2:03.1.
