So much so that a Bathurst City Junior Lawn Bowls Development Squad has been formed.
Now each Saturday morning for two hours, it is juniors who take to the greens at the Bathurst City Community Club.
It is something that club president Ross James is delighted to see.
He explained the formation of the squad is the culmination of club members having introduced local students to the sport over the last year.
“Once the basic techniques have been grasped, some of these students have shown some outstanding skills,” James said.
“We initially ran an introductory program teaching basic techniques and skills. Now the squad is playing organised games under the supervision of the club coaches.

“Some of the shots these children are playing are tremendous, regularly drawing applause from an ever increasing group of spectators, including club members.
“It’s very exciting and no doubt some of this current squad will progress into some games in the future.”
The Saturday sessions, which run from 10am to noon, are free and organised by three accredited coaches.
Schools or individuals interested in getting involved with the Bathurst City junior program can contact the club.
