A small party was held for her at the Great Wall restaurant on August 18, two days before her birthday.
The gathering was organised by Anne Engler, the daughter-in-law of the birthday girl.
Anne said that Shirley had no idea about the party, instead under the impression it was just going to be a quiet meal with her son and his wife.
As the table was at the back of the restaurant, it took Shirley a little while to realise what was going on, but when she saw her friends and family she was delighted.
There was 36 guests at the party, who were able to enjoy a meal and birthday cake.
Speeches were made by Shirley’s son Peter and her best friend Pat Howard, who lives at Oberon.
