Some dads were lucky enough to enjoy a ride around Mount Panorama in classic cars, including the George Reed Special.
There were even some former museum staff on hand including manager and curator Sue Chapman, who served from 1988 to 1997.
“From 1988 to 1997, it took a while for the museum to grow,” she said.
“We had to raise between $20,000 and $25,000 for run the museum and we got a lot of that money from Race Week and we also received funds from sponsorship.”
Back when the museum opened in 1988, only shed was used to display cars and historic memorabilia.
Now in the museum’s 30th year, three sheds are being used.

The museum was originally launched by the Bathurst Light Car Club in 1988, but it the then Bathurst City Council took control in 1997.
While entry was free for father’s, people born in 1988 also got in for free to acknowledge the museum’s 30th year.
