Bathurst weather: Bureau forecasts -4 degrees on Monday morning

THE Bathurst region is bracing for one of its coldest September mornings on record with the mercury set to drop well below zero overnight.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a low of -4 degrees Celsius on Monday morning with wide areas of frost across the region.

The forecast puts the region within striking distance of the record low September temperature of -4.9 degrees Celsius recorded at Bathurst Airport on September 2, 2012.

The freezing conditions won’t last, however, with the cold start tipped to clear to a sunny day and a top of 17.

Bathurst can expect an overnight low of 2 degrees on Tuesday and a top of 21 while Wednesday is likely to see a low of 6 and top of 19.

There is no significant rain forecast for the next week.
