The UK-based company, which was awarded the tender for the design of the Second Circuit at Mount Panorama in July, is an internationally recognised multidisciplinary automotive facility and destination design consultancy.
Council has a vision to build on the city’s reputation for staging world class international motor sport events and take it to the next level.
The Second Circuit at Mount Panorama is a multifaceted project for the construction of an international standard second race circuit and associated infrastructure. The facility will host a variety of motor vehicle and motorcycle events with capacity of 50,000 spectators.
Apex Circuit Design has extensive experience in motor track design and the company has designed and delivered some of the best motor sports tracks around the world.
The tender offered by Apex Circuit Design provides all works as included in the specification and amounts to $3,703,000 (ex GST).
Their nominated process is for a master plan to be created on site, followed by detail design, preparation and submission of planning documentation with FIA/FIM approval occurring at the same time as the planning approval process.
The anticipated total delivery time for the design is 84 weeks from acceptance of contract.
I recently travelled to Canberra to meet with Andrew Gee MP and Senator Bridget McKenzie to provide an update on the progress of the Second Circuit at Mount Panorama.
It was a productive meeting in which the Federal Government reaffirmed its support for the project.
A total of $25 million has been provided for the project - $15 million from the NSW Government and $10 million from the Federal Government. I would like to thank them for their commitment and contribution towards this project that will have great benefits for our economy.

Businesses asked to extend the discounts to seniors
THOSE providing essential services, products and entertainment across the state are the target of a renewed push by the NSW Government to encourage more businesses to join the NSW Seniors Card program.
Business owners are realising the benefits of offering a NSW Seniors Card discount are twofold – acquiring new loyal customers and giving back to their communities.
A recent survey of 35,000 Seniors Card members revealed NSW seniors are more likely to try a new business if it offers a Seniors Card discount.
The NSW Government has committed to expanding the NSW Seniors Card program and since 2015 the number of participating businesses has grown from 1600 to more than 5700, while adding more than 250,000 members.
Everyday living discounts range from savings on energy and phone bills, education courses, travel insurance and accommodation, through to discounts at your local café, gym, hairdresser or mechanic.
Businesses who sign up by November 9 will have the chance to win a $10,000 NSW Seniors Card advertising package. Seniors can also win a VISA gift card for nominating new businesses. Visit www.seniorscard.nsw.gov.au.
