The Bathurst Golf Club has been announced as a finalist in the Country Club of the Year category as part of the annual New South Wales Golf Industry awards.
The club is one of five in country NSW that has been nominated as part of the newly introduced award category.
The Bathurst Golf Club has seen significant growth over the past five years, and is the only country-based golf club in NSW that has seen a continual increase in membership during this period.
Bathurst professional Matt Barrett believes such recognition is a testament to the local community, as well as the staff at the club.

“I think it is a great thing for the Bathurst community,” he said.
“There are a lot of people that put in effort to make the club what it is, from the greenkeepers, to the bar staff, maintenance crew, pro-shop staff, as well as the entire Bathurst golfing community.”
The club, which has existed since 1934, is the host of many annual tournaments, including the NSW Senior and Mid-Amateur Championships, and the Bathurst Open, which is an NSW Open Regional Qualifying event.
Barrett is quietly confident about the club’s chances of success at the awards night.
“I believe we have a great chance to win. We have checked all the boxes in terms of profitability and membership growth,” he said.
The winner will be announced on October 22.
