The Panorama Red striker bagged two goals in his side 3-1 win over Mudgee Wolves on Sunday and it’s not the first time he’s scored two in the decider.
Back in 2015, Soetens scored two goals for Abercrombie in the second-half of extra-time to gift the club’s its first ever senior title.
Now in 2018, Soetens’ two goal haul has helped Panorama to its first ever men’s senior title.
He said he made the most of the opportunities that were presented to him on Sunday.
“The ball just fell to me and I tried to make the most of it and luckily it went in for me,” he said.
“It was tough, hey. They were at us non-stop. The boys deserve it and we’re all exhausted.”
Soetens opened the scoring in the opening 10 minutes of the match, when one of his fellow teammates set him up down the wing.
He raced away from the opposition defenders, cut inside and tucked it away to the side of Mudgee keeper Mitchell Heywood.
On the 38th minute mark, only seven minutes out from half-time, Soetens scored his second to give Panorama Red a strong lead heading into half-time.
Panorama went 3-0 up early in the second-half, via a Jaiden Culbert penalty before Wolves pulled one back.
“[Mudgee] were putting pressure on us,” Soetens said.
“They were fit and we were getting tired. They were getting the momentum but we knew we could scrap it out.”
And while Soetens couldn’t find a third for his hat-trick, he was over the moon with the victory.
“It was massive, to do it for all the fans because we had some real, great fans out here supporting us,” he said.
“It was great to get it done for them, as well as us.”
