FIRST off, let me just say how disappointing it was to see an article that was published in the Western Advocate recently (“Author’s boys talk”, September 25) in order to promote a certain visitor to town who, I believe, likes to spread their hate for males across our country.

As a woman, a mum, a wife, I find it distressing to think that anyone would want all men to die and/or would prefer to treat all males as the same because of what they may or may not have experienced in their lives.
As a woman, I cannot at all relate to any other females who would prefer to degrade, insult and/or wish harm to anyone because they feel that their own individual views are righteous and acceptable.

Let me be clear, these views are definitely not acceptable and are not the norm and I do not feel that it is right to allow anyone a platform to which they can continue to be vocal with such harmful views.
I also understand that as a woman, we have a really long way to go when it comes to gender equality, but we will not get there if we as women sit silently and allow other females to tear down men in order to feel good about themselves.
Yes, we as women have a right to say what it is we want to say, but that doesn't mean we should, particularly when what we have to say might create hate and/or attack those who do not deserve to be attacked.
So to all men out there, you are not the enemy here.
The real enemy lies within those who have an irrational and obscured perception; who feel that by attacking the other gender it will actually help move the human race forward.
Well, it doesn't, and I, for one, think that we really need to stop listening to and/or promoting those who will continue to hold us back and prevent our world from becoming what it should be - and that is a world where all genders are recognised, respected and treated equally and where individual people are not given a forum or a platform to vocalise their extremist ideologies that will only do harm to our already fragile world.
