Minnesota Miss ($4, Darren Wort) was four lengths clear of her nearest rival in the Ladbrokes Greyhounds Preview Stakes (307 metres) and claimed victory in a sharp 17.73 seconds – almost identical to her previous winning mark of 17.74 last month.
“She’s a good little bitch and puts in every start. She’s got a bit of early toe and says ‘catch me if you can’,” winning trainer Wort said.
“If she can run that sort of time every week then you’re always going to be a chance.
“I think we’ll come back here for a couple more starts, step her up a bit and see where we go from there.”
Minnesota Miss got away fairly in Monday’s sprint but it was widest starter Opal King ($17.80) who shot out to an early lead.
Opal King got almost a length ahead of the pack before Minnesota Miss dived to his inside and snatched the lead away inside the first 100 metres.
From there it was always going to take a big effort to prevent Minnesota Miss from making it career win number 10.

Opal King stayed within two lengths of Minnesota Miss on the turn and inside starter Frosted wasn’t far away along the rail.
Frosted shifted to the outside of Opal King to try and find a way into second place midway through the bend.
The change in line put Frosted out of rhythm and he drifted wide, inconveniencing Frosted and a charging favourite Legendary Opal ($3.40).

There was no such concerns for Minnesota Miss who barrelled down the straight with clean air, holding out Opal King comfortably.
The run of the race belonged to Legendary Opal who still got home for third despite a horror journey.
