Originally from Sydney, Zoe studied a double degree Bachelor of Veterinary Biology / Bachelor of Veterinary Science at CSU in Wagga, then practiced in Bendigo and Newcastle, before making the move to Bathurst in 2017. Zoe said that she has loved living and working in Bathurst over the last 12 months, “I did a couple of pracs here when I was at uni and liked the size and feel of Bathurst,” she said.
Zoe wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five, a career choice that was further reinforced during high school where she found her love of science. “I’ve always loved animals and found them interesting,” she said. “I’m a dog person, and work mostly with dogs and cats but also with other animals given the wide variety that come through the doors here, which was another reason I moved to Bathurst”.
While not specialising, Zoe undertakes a lot of surgery, growing in confidence over the past three years, and is starting to take on more complex surgeries under the guidance of clinic owner, Kirsten Ingwersen. “I love working at Durham Street, Kirsten is very genuine in her care for both our animals and clients. She is very hardworking and has been a great mentor who is always available to help,” she said.
Kirsten was honoured by Zoe’s glowing assessment and said the respect was mutual. “Zoe has an amazing attitude and is dedicated to what she does. She goes above and beyond to help our clients and our clinic, especially when she took over the reins while I was on leave and ran everything to perfection,” she said. “It’s great to have someone so passionate involved in our practice”.
Zoe’s dedication includes house visits which is something she said she really enjoys, “We get to treat someone's pet in a familiar and comfortable environment which helps put them at ease. Difficult cases are also something that Zoe enjoys, given she is always up to a challenge with the aim of getting the best outcome for the sick or injured animal.

An area that Zoe is looking to build on is behavioural training for pets. Focusing on dogs to begin with, Zoe along with vet nurse Mandy O’Connor, will investigate and try to improve behavioural training to help dogs allowing them to better socialise, address any issues and live healthier lifestyles.
When not hard at work looking after animals, Zoe loves spending time with her own pets including ‘Rosie’ the cavalier, her border collie ‘Pippa’ and kelpie ‘Bessie’.
