Just before midnight on September 28, Blayney police officers spotted an abandoned car on a back road and stopped to investigate, a post to the Chifley Police District page said.
“At 11.30pm on September 28, Blayney police were patrolling the Old Lachlan Road at Caloola, a dirt back road, when they located an unattended vehicle parked on the wrong side of the road,” the post stated.
“No persons were with the vehicle.”
Police reported that they then conducted a search of the area and “heard a faint noise about 30 metres away in the bush”.
“A 78-year-old male from South Australia was located in the bush in poor health,” the post continued.
“The male’s health deteriorated rapidly and he was taken to hospital.
“As a result of Blayney police finding the male, he made a full recovery and was reunited with family.”
