The #9 entry was given a pit lane penalty after wheel spinning during their final pit stop.
There was a rush to get Reynolds into the pit lane due to bad cramps in his left leg.
Five laps after coming into the pits he had relinquished the lead of the race to Craig Lowndes, who continued on his way to a fairy tale victory in his final full-time start.
Just moments before Reynolds’ incident Anton de Pasquale suffered a heavy crash at Skyline.
The rookie ran wide at McPhillamy Park, went through the sand and contacted the wall, heavily damaging the #99 entry.
De Pasquale shocked everyone at the mountain on Saturday when he put his Commodore into third place on the grid.
It was a tough opening Bathurst 1000 for the rookie pair of de Pasquale who got off to a shaky start, suffering from a flat spot because of a lock up at The Chase and an open front passenger side door that meant an extra pit stop for the #99 Commodore.
It was an impressive debut for both drivers but, as with many debutants of the Mountain, ended in the back of the garage.
