After three days of practices and qualifying, 26 cars from the Supercars Championship lined up on the grid to commence the Great Race.
There were some casualties along the way, the first incident coming when two cars from the same team collided at Forrest’s Elbow, but 24 cars managed to complete the 161-lap race.
It was the lowest number of DNF (did not finish) results recorded for the Bathurst 1000 this century.
In the end, it was Craig Lowndes and Steven Richards who claimed the Peter Brock Trophy.
Lowndes became a seven-time Bathurst champ when he crossed the line in his #888 Holden Commodore ZB, while Richards recorded his fifth win.
It was a great result for the duo, with it their last drive at Bathurst together after Lowndes announced in July, 2018 that it would be his last year as a full-time driver.
He will return in 2019 as a co-driver in one of the two Triple Eight Race Engineering cars.
