Chifley Police District officers have urged people to be more aware of their security when leaving valuable items in their vehicles such as wallets and mobile phones.
“Unknown persons have stolen a wallet containing debit/credit cards, licence and other personal ID items from a vehicle in Cheviot Drive over the weekend,” police said via a statement on social media.
“Before the victim realised the wallet was missing the Pay Wave facility had been activated numerous times and a large amount of money fraudulently taken from the account.”
Chifley Police District officers are now reviewing closed circuit television (CCTV) footage with the hope of identifying the offender/s.
Police urged the community to act swiftly should they fall victim to a theft.
“Contact your financial institution and cancel cards as soon as possible and report the incident to police,” the statement said.
