“Being a Wednesday [this year], you would not think it would be so big,” Kath Palma, from costumes and accessories store Cosventure, told the Advocate.
“But this year everyone seems to be getting into it.”

While an older generation might furrow its brow over the American tradition reaching Australian shores, Ms Palma said that attitude was not completely widespread.
“I think the younger generation just expect it now; it’s just part of their culture,” she said.
Special effects make-up is “huge now”, Ms Palma said.
“People can get on to Youtube and see how easy it is to create special effects,” she said.
And “scary clowns and scary nuns” are the most popular of the costumes.
Scary nuns?
“It’s because of the movie [recently released thriller The Nun],” Ms Palma said.
Halloween will be celebrated on October 31.
