And while many teams are allowed a marquee player, Redbacks are yet to finalise someone from outside their club to play throughout the Twenty20 competition.
They’ll also be missing some senior players due to work commitments, in the likes of Ben Orme and Michael Tobin.
Redbacks captain Joey Coughlan said that’ll massively impact his side.
“We’ve lost our two strike bowlers. It’s not great,” he said.
“But we’ve got a few boys coming up from second grade – Jeremy Cleary and Sean Munns. Hopefully that’ll get the club more together and get a few more boys watching the match.
“John Rudge has also kindly donated his time, helping us out. He retired last season, but he said he’ll help us out because our wicket keeper, Campbell Baker, has gone home to Tamworth for the weekend. We needed someone to fill that void at the moment.”
Coughlan said he’s unfamiliar with the CYMS side, but heard the Orange District Cricket Association first grade team has lost a few senior players.
“I think they’ve changed a fair bit. I guess I’ll find out when I do the toss on Friday night,” he said.
“We’ll just need one of our senior boys to step up and score runs or take some wickets.”
CYMS last game in its local first grade competition was a 30-run win over Centrals.
The match is set to get underway at 7pm.
