Lamb, 12, has got off to a strong start with his Bathurst under 14s side in the Mitchell Cricket Council competition with two victories from as many games.
Now his season has became even more memorable.
Lamb will be the sole Bathurst representative among a group of 13 Western Zone cricketers who will be taking part in the trial on December 2 at Young.
The junior talent has come a long way in the space of just three years in the sport.
“I was surprised. I’m feeling really excited and I’m looking forward to the trials,” Lamb said.
“Mainly my batting has been the thing that’s stood out for the last few years. I’ve had a couple of fifties.
“I know a couple of the guys but about half of them will be new for me.”
Lamb produced a match-winning 59 runs for last season’s under 12s Bathurst side in their win over Lithgow.
Just on Sunday he took a wicket during Bathurst’s crushing win against the same opponent, finishing with figures of 1-4 off three overs.
I’m feeling really excited and I’m looking forward to the trials.

Other Western Zone players making the trip to Young will be Harry Roscarel, Riley Keen, Ryan Dunford, Charlie Tink, Dan Hunter, Gus Cornish, Eli Morris, Fletcher Hyde, Tyson Deebank, Ty Sissian, Jack Fuller and Dugald Shepherd.
Riverina representatives will also take part at the trials for their chance to appear in the final teams.
Lamb will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Bathurst District Cricket Council players Ben Mitchell, Tanvir Singh (under 17s) and Tom Lynch (under 15s) in making a State Challenge appearance.
Bathurst 14s play Mudgee on November 9.
