Stan Lee passed away in the early hours of Monday, November 12 [Pacific Standard Time] at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.
He was 95 years old.
As a comic book writer, editor and publisher, Lee was a key figure behind the rise of Marvel Comics in the 1960s, a brand that has given us an endless library of iconic superheroes.
Lee was instrumental in the creation of many Marvel superheroes such as Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and Thor.
Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, Lee’s genius creativity as a writer and editor built foundations for comic book characters that continue to be heralded as icons of popular culture decades later.
In his later years, Lee became the figurehead for the Marvel brand, and between 2000 and 2018, made cameo appearances in 34 blockbuster films based on Marvel characters.

Drivers set to challenge mount
This Thursday will see car enthusiasts test their street and track racing vehicles on Mount Panorama as part of the 2018 Challenge Bathurst event.
The Challenge Bathurst event brings together amateur car enthusiasts and elite motor sport competitors for four days of fine-tuned action on the iconic racetrack.
The event will feature two distinct sections; supersprint and regularity.
The supersprint section is an important practice opportunity for competitors aiming to appear in next year’s key events: the Bathurst 6 Hour, the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Bathurst 1000.
Meanwhile, the regularity section offers a unique opportunity for performance driving enthusiasts to test their own set of wheels on the mountain.
Challenge Bathurst is an invitation-only event.
