The Japanese World Cup winner is set to make her debut for the Roar in Sunday's clash with Adelaide United after landing in Australia last week.
Nagasato has been named in the Roar's 17-player squad by coach Mel Andreatta after proving her fitness in training.
The experienced 31-year-old, who has been capped over 130 times by Japan, had a unique way of describing what she will bring to her new team on field.
"I am an artist. It's not like a striker, it's not midfield, but I just create some ideas on the field," Nagasato told reporters on Friday.
"I try to decide always what is the best choice - to score, to break the line or break up the situation. I just try to do that on the field for 90 minutes - that's what I play."
Australia is the fifth country where Nagasato has plied her trade after spells in her homeland, Germany, England and the United States.
In America, Nagasato was a teammate of Matildas star Sam Kerr at Chicago Red Stars and the Australian clearly made an impact on her during their time together.
"She's so nice. I enjoyed playing with her a lot on the field. She inspired me a lot as a striker," Nagasato said.
The Japanese veteran is now inspiring her new teammates, with Roar defender Jenna McCormick lauding her immediate impact on the squad.
"It's great having Yuki here, she's a world class footballer and just lifts the training environment," McCormick, who is preparing to face her former club for the first time, said.
"She's certainly going to bring a lot to the team."
The Roar have lost their past four encounters with the Reds but head into Sunday's match full of confidence after a 1-0 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers last time out.
"It's always exciting to play a former club," McCormick said.
"It should be good, I'm looking forward to it."
