Local entertainer Kathy Cameron has scaled back the public performances of Fun Theatre for the Very Young this year, deciding to instead concentrate on visiting preschools.
The final public show of the year will be held on Sunday, December 2 in the Country Women’s Association (CWA) hall in Russell Street.
Ms Cameron said the upcoming show will be very interactive and feature several characters who need help from the audience.
“We’ve got Little Ben and Little Kaz and they are going to be playing games at Little Ben’s place, and Little Nel and Little Alex might be coming along,” she said.
The play will be preceded by Fun Band, where students get to come up and try playing instruments.
Fun Theatre for the Very Young aims to get children involved in theatre so they can appreciate the performing arts as adults.
“The show is specifically designed for that very young age group, two to five years,” Ms Cameron said.
“So it’s a very gentle and fun way to introduce children to theatre at that age.”

The show, which starts at 11am, will go for approximately 40 minutes.
It costs $5 per child, with accompanying adults and babies able to come along for free.
Payment will be taken at the door, so there is no need to book in advance.
