Bathurst has been hit by rain and wind gusts of up to 67 kilometres per hour over the two days, resulting in fallen trees and minor flood events in the region.
Duty officer Zeak Smith said the SES received eight call outs within a half-hour period on Thursday night, which followed a particularly busy day.
“We were actively doing jobs all day, not just [Thursday night],” he said.
“We started jobs early in the morning with light flooding, then we had trees down throughout the day.”
On Thursday night, there were three active teams of about 10 SES members attending to incidents across Bathurst.
These included a large gum tree down across the Mitchell Highway, trees down in Browning Street and the Kelso area, as well as minor flooding in Perthville.
Mr Smith said that the winds were still strong on Friday morning, but he expected less jobs to come in than the previous day due to “nothing extraordinary on the [weather] radar” for the afternoon.
The SES is able to provide assistance to residents under a number of circumstances, including fallen trees, leaking roofs and flood incidents.
Crews can also attend residential properties to carry out inspections if people suspect trees or branches might fall in strong winds.
Mr Smith said that, while the SES can’t do full repairs, people should get in touch on 132 500 if they have any safety concerns.
“Anything to do with their personal property in terms of trees, leaking roofs, flooding or sandbagging, they can call the SES,” he said.
