Thunder spent last week taking part in a series of warm-up Twenty20 matches at Bankstown, playing the ICC Women’s Global Development Squad as well as WBBL rivals Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixes.
It was Bathurst talent Griffith who got the important breakthrough in Thunder’s clash against fierce rivals the Sixes on Friday afternoon at Bankstown, a match her side won by eight wickets with four overs in hand.
After Thunder had made a strong start to have their rivals at 3-27, Carly Leeson began to fire for the Sixes. She smashed six boundaries on her way to 48 off 35 deliveries before Griffith was thrown the ball.
On her fourth delivery Griffith trapped Leeson leg before wicket. The reduced the Sixes to 6-99.
