ARE there only a few of us who remember the 2000 Olympics and the promises made about the extension of daylight saving time (DST) “just for the Olympics” and a return to four months the following summer?
That never happened and we are still having to suffer those two additional months of “Damn Silly Time”.
It has been shown that many problems exist as a result of those two extra months, including the additional power used because of the need for lighting and heating.
People in Canada and New Zealand find the DST annoying and some European countries have cut it out.
DST really only suits those who can’t get out of bed early and need to pretend they don’t.
Let’s get rid of those two extra months of additional power bills and car accidents and return to Eastern Sensible Time for eight months.
