SIX years of hard work have paid dividends for students at St Stanislaus College with 32 Band 6 results achieved across 12 subjects by 19 students.
Head of College Anne Wenham congratulated all graduates describing the results as “outstanding.”
Among the highlights achieved by students included a mark of 97 out of 100 in Industrial Technology (metal), for Andrew McGregor, in the first year the school has offered the subject.
Dr Wenham said the school had also maintained its proud tradition of outstanding results in advanced English, which she said was “phenomenal” in an all boys school.
“It really is impressive, and it’s because of the approach we take to literature in the school, and it’s something that goes across all subjects.”
“The results achieved in standard English this year are the best we’ve ever had.”
Youhana Lual topped the school in standard English, with a mark of 89, which Dr Wenham said was exceptional given Youhana came to Australia as a refugee from South Sudan.
Youhana hopes to study medicine in the future.
“We’re just so proud of him, he worked so hard, he left South Sudan, where they spoke Dinka, went to a refugee camp in Egypt where he had to learn Arabic, and English is his third language, so it is a wonderful achievement.”
Dr Wenham also congratulated the school’s top three achievers, Ryan Campbell, Aiden Allen and Xavier Lynch, who she said were well deserving of their marks.
Ryan received Band 6 results in both ancient and modern history, religion and advanced English.
Aiden received Band 6 results in maths and biology, and got 86 in physics, 87 in English and 41 out of 50 in extension maths.
Xavier received four Band 6 results in advanced English, with a mark of 94, drama with a mark of 91, extension English, with a mark of 49 out of 50 and music with a mark of 95.
He also excelled in extension two English with a mark of 41 out of 50.
Dr Wenham also congratulated the school’s head prefect Luke Powell, currently playing in the in the NSW Premier Cricket competition for Gordon, who she said is expected to get an ATAR of 90 or above.
