A community information booth will be set up in two locations this Saturday to give details on the new service, which is proposed to depart Bathurst just after 6am.
It will be an option for those who want to visit stores that are not available in Bathurst, such as Kmart in Orange or Myer in Dubbo, but who cannot or do not want to drive, or those wanting to visit relatives in one of the cities.
The trial service, which the NSW Government said could start early next year, is proposed to depart Bathurst at 6.15am and stop at Orange, Molong, Wellington and Geurie before arriving in Dubbo at 9am.
Passengers could then return home on an existing train service that departs Dubbo at 2.15pm, stopping at Wellington and Orange and arriving in Bathurst at 5.06pm, the NSW Government said.

“The Bathurst community has been crying out for additional transport services to connect them to their regional neighbours,” Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said.
“The proposed early morning services would get customers to Dubbo by 9am, giving them more choice and flexibility for day trips, which could be just the spark needed to stimulate more growth for local businesses.
“Over the next couple of weeks, NSW TrainLink staff will be hosting information booths in Bathurst, Orange, Wellington, Parkes and Dubbo.
“This is a great opportunity for locals to find out more about the trial and provide feedback on how they would like to see this service operate.”
Feedback can also be provided by filling in an online survey at www.transportnsw.info/centralwest-trial which will be available until January 11.
Mr Toole said the proposed trial will use modern and accessible coaches with 41 seats, spaces for two wheelchairs and an on-board toilet.
A community information booth will be at the Bathurst Farmers’ Markets from 8am-noon and in front of Donut King in the Bathurst City Centre from 1.30pm-4pm this Saturday.
