For the past 10 years, Bathurst Regional Council has offered a family-friendly celebration with the New Year’s Eve Party in the Park.
The event will be held at the Adventure Playground on December 31, giving people a range of affordable entertainment from late afternoon and into the night.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said it will be a fun event.
“It’s a relaxing afternoon event where friends and families can sit together enjoying live music. It’s an affordable family-friendly event,” he said.
“You can pack a picnic, there are $2 rides as well as free activities and of course the attractions in the adventure playground.”
In recent years, council has aimed to provide a lineup of local musical acts that can appeal to all different people.
The opportunity to perform on New Year’s Eve this year has been afforded to Sweet Revenge, Matt Boylan-Smith and Bootleggers.
When it comes to food, people will have the option to buy from Mr Fish and Chips, Twisted Chip, Mr Whippy, Aroma and Melissa’s Cotton Candy.
“We are still keen to hear from other food vendors who are interested in attending,” Cr Hanger said.
“You can also pack a picnic if you’d prefer.”
The highlight of the night is sure to be the fireworks, which will be be held at the family-friendly time of 9pm.
Council has spent $10,000 on the display this year and engaged a new company to deliver them.
“Howard and Sons Pyro Technics will provide a ten minute action packed show,” Cr Hanger said.
People are encouraged to come down to the Adventure Playground from 4pm on New Year’s Eve to enjoy the fun of Party in the Park.
Cr Hanger said people planning to attend should note the traffic management plan for the event.
“All roads surrounding the Adventure Playground will be closed and only available for local resident access,” he said.
“Disabled parking is available in the car park next to the tennis centre and drop off points will be installed at each corner into the park.”
