THOUSANDS of people remain without power after wild weather swept through the Central West on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning just before 3pm, with blackouts impacting businesses and homes from around 4pm.
Initial reports from Essential Energy in Mudgee showed that more than 2000 customers had been plunged into darkness in this area alone.
And, while some people had their power restored overnight, many hundreds remained in the dark on Thursday morning with crews investigating.
As of 7am, Essential Energy’s website showed the how many customers, and in what areas, were still impacted by an unplanned outage:
- Evans Plains (Bathurst) – 22
- Turondale – four
- Clifton Grove/Ophir/Mullion Creek – 38
- Oberon/Jenolan – 468
- Canowindra – two
- Boorowa – two
- Young – two
- Forbes/Jamalong – 12
- Trundle – 12
- Stuart Town/Wellington – 15
- Mudgee/Gulgong – seven
- Gilgandra – 19
Meanwhile, hot temperatures are predicted across the Central West on Thursday with the chance of afternoon thunderstorm.
The public are urged to call Essential Energy on 13 20 80 if you are experiencing an electricity supply interruption or if there are any wires down, sparks or fire in their areas.
