Party In The Park will be held at the Adventure Playground in Victoria Park on New Year’s Eve from 4pm-9pm. There will be live local music, show rides, free face-painting, a wide selection of foods and more. The highlight of the night is always the much anticipated and spectacular fireworks display. Pack a picnic, bring the whole family and settle in. Call 6333 6111.
Some of the school holiday activities at Bathurst Library have already booked out. There are still spots available for Twigged with Fiona Howle on Thursday, January 17 (make a picture frame out of twigs), Animal Sticks with Fiona Howle on Wednesday, January 23 (make a walking stick complete with hobby animal) and Pop-up Cards with Fiona Howle on Thursday, January 24 (a card-making session with a 3D surprise).
Wednesday, January 2
Bathurst Harness Racing Club will conduct four meetings during the month of January – on January 2, 7, 18 and 23. The feature will be the Oberon Community Night on Friday, January 18. The meeting will be fundraising for Ronald McDonald House and there will be fun for all the family. Saturday, January 5
Come on a journey down the rabbit hole with Curiouser and Curiouser curator Julian Woods at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery from 11am. Julian will lead a guided tour of the exhibition, talking about each of the exhibiting artists, their practice and their works in the exhibition.
Monday, January 7
Grab a costume, invent a character and create a new show during an upcoming workshop (suitable for ages five to 12) at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre. Penelope (Nel) Kentish and Alex Vidler, experienced drama tutors with a passion for making theatre with young people, will be running the workshop on Monday and Tuesday, January 7 and 8 from 10am-4pm. Cost is $50 per student. A short performance will be held on Tuesday, January 8 at 3.30pm. Contact BMEC on 6333 6161 for information (but note that BMEC will be closed until 9am on January 2).
Coming up
The Art of Ageing exhibition in digital format will be showing at the Bathurst Library during the NSW Seniors Festival from February 18-22. The exhibition is a NSW Government initiative which aims to challenge people’s views on ageing and the experiences of older people across the state.
