The foursome only formed earlier this year at MacKillop College but have recently secured a fortnightly spot at Panthers Bathurst and now are set to play in front of a crowd of thousands on New Year’s Eve.
The band will be part of the line-up of entertainment – along with Matt Boylan-Smith and Bootleggers – for the Party In The Park, which always draws an enormous crowd to the Adventure Playground and surrounds in Howick Street.
Bathurst’s signature New Year’s Eve event features food, fireworks, activities for the kids and, of course, live music to see out the last hours of the year.
The New Year’s Eve gig for Sweet Revenge comes after recent performances for the foursome at the Inland Sea of Sound Festival held in early December on Mount Panorama – where the headline acts were The Cat Empire and Deborah Conway – and the Fish River Festival.
The young band was also the opening act for The Safety Of Life At Sea at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre Band Night in late September.
Sweet Revenge is made up of Belle Whitwell on guitar/vocals, Zoe Bunyan on bass/vocals, Ella McPhillamy on keyboards and Jenna Orpwood on drums, who are all year nine students at MacKillop College.
The band’s sound has been described as reflecting an appreciation for a variety of prominent acts, notably Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Palaye Royale.
In addition cover songs, the band members have written original music communicating positive messages such as the importance of staying true to yourself.
The band formed earlier this year when they were brought together by MacKillop College director of music Paul Hughes.
Party in the Park
THE New Year’s Eve Party in the Park at the Adventure Playground will be held from 4pm.
Food options will include Mr Fish and Chips, Twisted Chip, Mr Whippy, Aroma and Melissa’s Cotton Candy.
The fireworks will be held at the family-friendly time of 9pm.
Those planning to attend should note the traffic management plan for the event.
All roads surrounding the Adventure Playground will be closed and will only be available for local resident access, according to Bathurst Regional Council.
Disabled parking will be available in the car park next to the tennis centre and drop-off points will be installed at each corner into the park.
