The first day of Mayfield Garden’s Fresh Fiesta was a success according to marketing and event coordinator Amy Hotham, with more than 40 people attending a day of live music, cocktails and wood fire pizzas.
Held across each weekend of January, the Fresh Fiesta is a new initiative by Mayfield Garden that is focused on bringing residents from Bathurst, Oberon and beyond to the iconic cool climate gardens throughout the summer holidays.
The Fresh Fiesta was held in the Mayfield Kiosk, which is only normally opened during festival periods, which are held only four times a year, two weeks at time.
“This is a new thing and we don’t normally have this area open,” Ms Hotham said.
“We decided to start utilising it, so we brought in some new chairs.
“The only time this kiosk area is open is during our festival periods.
“We’ll have live music, our cocktail menu and wood fire pizzas. We want to get this area a destination on its own, separate to the garden.”
Cocktails on offer include sangria and pear mojitos, with local wines, beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic options also available.
We want the locals – from Oberon and Bathurst – to come out here and enjoy the music and see it for more than just a garden.

They’ll also be plenty of local live music.
Jodie Anderson and Aaron Strickland performed together on Sunday, January 6, with Lueth Ajak, who is expected to be a “big draw card”, performing on Sunday, January 13 and Seb Jones on Sunday, January 27.
She wants the Bathurst and Oberon communities to embrace the event.
“We want the locals – from Oberon and Bathurst – to come out here and enjoy the music and see it for more than just a garden,” she said.
“We find that some people have already been out to the garden and don’t come back out here. This is actually something where people can spend the day out here and enjoy it.”
And if people are looking for something to do on Saturday, January 26 (Australia Day), the Fresh Fiesta is still on.
