It is because the Brabham Automotive BT62 Supercar will make its Mount Panorama debut at the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour.
Continuing a long legacy of the Brabham surname competing at the iconic circuit, the 700hp car will do a series of demonstration laps across the event weekend, while the car will also be on display throughout.
The BT62 weighs 972 kilograms and is powered by a 5.4-litre V8 that produces 700hp/522 kilowatts of power.
It is vastly different to the BMW M4 Matt Brabham, Tony Longhurst and Aaron Seton steered to class victory in last year’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
“Brabham Automotive is excited to be taking the Brabham BT62 to Bathurst for the first time,” David Brabham, a former Bathurst 1000 winner and managing director of Brabham Automotive, said.
“The iconic track has so much racing history and is held in such high regard all around the world.
“My father, Sir Jack Brabham, won the Bathurst 100 mile race back in 1960, including being clocked at 157 miles per hour down Conrod Straight, so we’ve seen success here over a number generations.”
The run at Bathurst follows the announcement that Brabham Automotive intends to return to racing at Le Mans in 2021-22.
The first BT62 demonstration laps will be staged between 3.45pm-4pm next Thursday.
