Mark Kenneth Daykin, 48, of Albion Street, Oberon, appeared by audio-visual link before magistrate Cate Follent for a release application in Bathurst Local Court on Tuesday.
Police arrested the 48-year-old on Sunday afternoon.
They allege the driver was involved in a minor collision in George Street around 3.30pm and then left the scene of the crash without exchanging particulars with the other driver.
A short time later, police say Daykin was pulled over by officers in Durham Street after allegedly being clocked at a speed of 147km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.
He was arrested and was given a breath test, which produced a positive result.
Further analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.183, which is in the high-range category for drink-driving.
Daykin was subsequently charged with a string of offences, including driving with high-range PCA, driving recklessly, furiously or at a speed or in a manner dangerous and not giving particulars to another driver.
Daykin’s solicitor, Ms Maranga from Legal Aid, told the court her client works full-time in Oberon and has worked there for the past four years. She said he had also resided at the same address for the same period, and was prepared to report to the local police station as often as required.
She said he was also prepared not to consume alcohol.
Magistrate Follent granted bail with strict conditions, which included reporting to police daily. She adjourned the matter to February 11 for plea or mention.
