The regional city was among many to swelter through incredibly hot days, with only a handful staying below 30 degrees.
Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott said that Bathurst Agricultural Station had malfunctioned and data for several days was missing, however the available data from both there and Bathurst Airport showed the record had been broken.
She said the old record was 32.5 degrees, while the average maximum temperatures were 33.9 and 33.5 degrees at the agricultural station and airport respectively.
The record-breaking figure came as no surprise given that the day time temperatures were often between four and six degrees hotter than the long term average temperature for Bathurst.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures were usually four or five degrees higher.
Despite the heat, Bathurst received substantial rainfall.
“We saw 18 days of rain, we saw 171 millimetres in the gauge over the month. The average is eight days of rain and the average is 63mm,” Ms Westcott said of the airport figures.
“At the ag station, it saw 155mm of rain at 10 days and the average, noting that the ag station has a much longer history, is 68mm falling over seven days.”
