Today however was very different, many in Bathurst were wide awake and excited to hear the roar of thousands of horsepower again for the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour.
The lines to get through the gates were packed, and the big screen was turned on for the start of the engines.
You could feel, this is the start of something big.
Despite the early start, hundreds of people were trackside before 5.45am to see 41 of the worlds’ best drivers tackle the mountain in the dark, before facing the renowned Bathurst sunrise.
There are people almost everywhere, lined up along the front straight, in front of the big screens, and up on top of the mountain, and everywhere on track there is non-stop action.

Close racing, crashes, pitstops, someone should really tell these drivers there is a long way to go in the race.
But despite all that, for the fans, this has to be one of the best motor sport events to attend in Australia.

Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin, McLaren, Lotus and Porsche.

For me, it is so awesome to be sitting and watching an international motor sport event.
Both Australian super stars and international icons are here this weekend and combine that with the legend that is Mount Panorama, and really, even with three drivers holding the trophies by 5:45pm by the end of this afternoon, the fans will be winners as well.
