“The Central West is definitely an area of focus for McDonald’s, with a number of new restaurants and reinvestment planned in the area over the next three years,” McDonald’s head of property NSW/ACT Diana Grosmann said.
“Our new restaurants will be delivered in line with our exciting new national restaurant designs, and offer state-of-the-art ordering and customer experience platforms.”

Though Ms Grosmann didn’t reveal the locations of the new outlets, McDonald’s is expected to open 25 new outlets and refurbish 60 existing stores across the state.
Ms Grosmann said reinvestment projects are focused on making stores more convenient and enjoyable for customers.
“Existing stores will get PlayPlace upgrades, digital enhancements and upgraded customer areas,” she said.

Asked if the proposed outlets will be similar to the one in Parramatta where the company partnered with Stockland to incorporate a 350-unit apartment tower above an existing McDonald’s site, Ms Grosmann said the company was open about it.
“Our core business is freestanding restaurants with drive-thru [through], however we are able to adapt in a number of different ways to ensure we can continue to grow,” she said.
“This includes integration with mixed use development, highway service centres and smaller format retail sites in CBDs and premium railway stations.”

Franchise owner Todd Bryant applied to Orange City Council last year for permission to replace the existing McDonald’s site on Bathurst Road in Orange and build a replacement on the current car park.
He said the new outlet will have 40 fewer seats but more room to cater for drive-through customers.
McDonald’s has 312 outlets in NSW.
