Little Digger, trained by Raymond Smith, carries the fastest time at Kennerson Park over this distance (29.50 seconds) and going out from the number one box makes him a major threat.

To his outside are the classy Oxley Rebel and fastest qualifier Caitlyn Keeping, who are currently locked in a close battle for favouritism with Little Digger.

Caitlyn Keeping was on fire during last Monday’s heat where she utilised her inside start to perfection. From the number three she remains a strong front-running hope.

Oxley Rebel gets the same box as his heat (two) and with a better start could feature towards the front.

Kennerson Park racing manager Jason Lyne said people should also be keeping their eye on Paul Braddon’s outsider starter Double Up Dee.

“Every trainer was hoping for that one box, I think. It's the kind of race where they all want to draw near the fence but while Little Digger’s not big early I think he can hold a position from the one,” he said.

“Caitlyn Keeping looks the leader from the three. She ran a great first section in her heat. Kitboolou Corza’s a great beginner but she’ll hold a straight line and make it hard for the outsider starters to come across.

“Then there’s Double Up Dee who recently broke the 450 metre track record.”

The Gold Cup is Bathurst’s richest race on the calendar and Lyne isn’t surprised to see another wonderful field make their way to Kennerson Park.

“It’s a fantastic field. I couldn’t be happier with it. We’ve got some promising young greyhounds coming through but we’ve also got some big names,” he said.

“Little Digger’s won a Group 1 and Caitlyn Keeping recently won a Group 2 up at the Gardens. Obviously Double Up Dee holds the 450m record here and Nangar Gift is a multiple city winner.”

Nangar Gift and Double Up Dee are touted as the best hopes of breaking up the big three’s dominance.

Racing at Kennerson Park starts from 7.07pm while the cup starts 9.25pm.
