TRENT Copeland will spearhead the ACT/NSW Country Comets bowling attack at Phillip Oval this week as they look to retain top spot on the Futures League ladder.
So far this summer the Comets have enjoyed one of their best campaigns in the national competition – with six wins across 10 games – and will be keen to add to that record with a win over Tasmania.
The four-day match will be Copeland’s second with the Comets, the Bathurst talent having also played in their season-opening win against Queensland.
In that match he took 3-27 off 12 overs in the first innings and backed that up with brilliant economical figures of 2-19 off 18 in the second.
Remarkably 16 of the 30 overs he has bowled thus far have been maidens, giving him an economy rate of 1.52.
It is that sort of job with the ball the Comets will be looking for the experienced NSW Sheffield Shield star to play once more against a Tasmanian outfit which currently sits fifth on ladder.
