David Brian Wilson was a key figure in Bathurst's arts scene for many years, and was noted for his mastery of painting figures and landscapes.
The talk will be conducted by former Art Gallery of New South Wales identity Hendrik Kolenberg, who toured a major retrospective of Wilson's work following his death in 1998.
"Mr Wilson could compose complete human figures from the bones outwards, which is a rare quality in art," Mr Kolenberg said.
"His figures possess a marvelous sense of realism in a similar vein to artists such as Peter Paul Rubens and Leonardo da Vinci."
Mr Kolenberg's talk will focus on the defining themes of Mr Wilson's art and how it enhanced his profile in the Bathurst community.
"When you look at his work, you feel a strong sense of energy and vitality," he said.
"There's a firm emotional warmth to his work."
Eight of Mr Wilson's artworks are on display at BRAG as part of the 50 Years: The Art of Giving exhibition, highlighting the contributions of the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society [BRAGS].
The talk is a fundraising event for BRAGS.
The entry fee for tonight's talk will be $10 [$8 for BRAGS members], and entry fees will be used to purchase artworks for the BRAG collection.
On Saturday, the BRAG Gallery Guides will host a floor talk on the exhibition.
