Katie Anne Bennett, 19, of Heylin Place, South Bathurst, appeared before magistrate Cate Follent charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and offensive language.
Police facts tendered to the court told how the incident followed Bennett drinking with her sister at the Elephant and Castle Hotel on the evening of November 2 last year.
During that time, according to the police facts, Bennett had several interactions with hotel security in relation to another patron, which she said made her feel angry and isolated.
Bennett continued to drink at the hotel before being ejected from the premises by security.
She had a verbal altercation with staff out the front of the property before walking west on Keppel Street.
At this point, according to the police facts, she met the victim in the matter and a witness.
The victim attempted to comfort Bennett and talk to her about what happened as they walked along the footpath.
Bennett had a conversation with the victim which became heated, according to the police facts, and Bennett held her fists up in front of her face and asked if the victim wanted to fight.
Bennett grabbed the victim by the hair and dragged her to the ground and Bennett's knee hit the victim's face, giving her a bleeding nose.
A witness tried to break up the fight by holding on to the victim and attempting to free her hair, but Bennett would not let go, according to the police facts.
Police arrived at the scene minutes later and spoke to the victim and Bennett.
When interviewed by police, Bennett agreed she had an anxiety problem, saying that when she drank dark spirits she could not control her anger, according to the police facts.
Bennett was convicted and placed on a 12-month bond for the assault; and convicted and fined $250 for offensive language.
