Ashincharge ($1.80) has waited a long time to get to the race track but she made her debut a memorable one for winning driver Isobel Ross on Monday when she took out the Stu Valentine 4 Bloodstock Ins Pace (1,730 metres) at Bathurst.
The four-year-old Jet Laag mare, trained by Amanda Turnbull, led from start to finish and held off late dives from Remember Eve ($6) and Cee Cee Norman ($34) to win in a 1:59:9 mile rate.
Ashincharge was Ross' sole drive of the day and she made it a good one.
"I'm really proud of this horse. She's come a really long way since we got her. I'm really happy that she won," Ross said.
Ross wouldn't mind landing more drives during Bathurst's biggest month of racing.
"I'm pretty lucky that I'm just driving nice horses at the moment," she said.
"Amanda's stable is full of those nice horses and it's great to drive them."
Ashincharge was given the number one gate for her first run and Ross put it to use by getting her mare out quickly.
There was chaos behind her as several runners broke on the first turn.
Mysterious Dream broke from third place and interrupted the bulk of the field as he dropped to the tail of the field.
Peachypie had worked into second place, briefly broke stride, but recovered to land the death seat.
Benignant worked forward to take the sit behind Ashincharge, who until that point had opened up a small break due to the early gallopers.
Ashincharge had an easy time out in front with a leisurely opening half of 63 seconds.
Remember Eve was the first to make a move when she came out wide from one out and three back.

The journey around the field was a long one for Remember Eve but she had plenty of fight left in her.
She pulled up within several metres of Ashincharge with less than 100 metres to run. Benignant also refused to go away.
Ashincharge had too much class for her challengers as she beat Remember Eve by 2.4m.
Cee Cee Norman was the fastest finisher of the race, flashing home out wide to finish a further two metres away.
Racing makes a return to the usual Wednesday timeslot next week at Bathurst.
Trainers will still have an opportunity to race this Wednesday at Dubbo.
