IT was brought to my attention that an article published by your paper on March 5 asked why the Vincentian Fathers had not taken steps to engage with the National Redress Scheme. This matter as reported is incorrect.

The Vincentian Fathers (covering and including entities for whom we are responsible such as St Stanislaus' College, Bathurst) have notified the National Redress Scheme operator of our intention to join the National Redress Scheme.
We stated from the beginning that we would be party to this scheme. We believe it is a positive scheme and victim focused. We applaud these values. Processes to join are well begun.
You will note that the National Redress Scheme operator on the scheme website records our willingness to join the scheme by the second quarter of 2019.
Our participation in the joining process of the scheme was also noted in the list produced by the minister in The Sydney Morning Herald recently.
We look forward to being fully functional in the scheme this year.
