Transport for NSW is planning the refurbishment of the bridge as part of the NSW Government's country rail infrastructure program.
The work will be undertaken by contractor John Holland Rail.
“The refurbishment of the Russell Street bridge has been planned as part of annual maintenance on the country regional network," a John Holland spokesperson said.
"The refurbishment includes the installation of an access walkway within the rail corridor for rail staff and train drivers to access the bridge."

Works will also involve removing timber transoms and replacing them with a composite long-life transom with increased durability.
Scaffolding for the work is set to go up in the first week of next month and the refurbishment is scheduled to be completed by the end of May, "subject to final approvals and weather conditions".
The John Holland spokesperson said traffic will be diverted around the underpass from 6am to 6pm on May 25 and 26.
"We’ll be providing the community with further details on the diversions closer to this time,” the spokesperson said.
