The Victoria kicked off their live entertainment roster on Saturday, March 9 by hosting the official launch of local act Smith & Jones' second album 'Something Worth Learning.'
The event drew a crowd of 350 people into 'The Backyard,' one of the venue's two new spaces providing refreshing options for the staging of live entertainment.
"It was a great event to showcase the capabilities of our refurbished venue," The Victoria's marketing and event manager Meg McKenna said.
"We're hoping to tailor our events program towards a variety of different crowds."
With 'The Backyard' able to hold large scale events for 200+ people, the smaller, more intimate 'Little Alberts' space can hold a crowd of 120 people.
In the coming weeks, The Victoria is set to host a live jazz band, a weekly rock karaoke event with an in-house band, and usher in a return for classic album nights.
The next act scheduled to perform at The Victoria is The Vampires, a Sydney-based jazz quartet who has, to date, released five studio albums fusing jazz with roots, reggae and world influences.
Their latest record, Pacifica, was released last month.
Scheduled for Sunday, March 31, the group's gig at The Victoria has come about with the help of local promotional organisation Samsara Productions.
The rock karaoke is scheduled to commence from Wednesday, April 10, while the classic album nights will begin later next month.
"We want to incorporate the love and passion people have for live entertainment with The Victoria's bright and vibrant atmosphere," Ms McKenna said.
"We're always open to the challenge of staging a unique event."
Ms McKenna said a key reason behind attracting local and national acts to The Victoria is to showcase the importance of art, music and culture in bringing the community together.
"There are so many venues in Sydney that consistently host live entertainment, and with The Victoria, we're hoping to promote it as a premier performance space for Bathurst," she said.
"We're hoping to exercise our network of contacts in order to bring some stellar shows to the venue."
Since opening in January, The Victoria has received plenty of positive feedback for its atmosphere, food and friendly staff.
"As a new business, we're really starting to knuckle down our target audience and streamline our process of running the venue," Ms McKenna said.
"In addition, we're open to proposals from outside promoters who are looking for a venue to stage their event."
