Maddy Honeyman and Mark Sheather, both 11, made it into the Polding and Western tennis teams respectively, putting them among the ranks of the state's top primary school players.
They are now preparing for their trip to Inverell in May for the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association Tennis Championships.
Honeyman made the breakthrough after several previous trial attempts while Sheather is back with Western after playing in the championships last year.
Eglinton Tennis Club president and Honeyman's father Jason said getting through a gruelling qualification process is a testament to how well the pair have developed their tennis.
"They play them against all kids in primary schools across the state to try and get into a team of five," he said.
"They play off over a couple of different trials across the state. With Maddy she trialled at Dubbo, made it through then went to Lismore where there were 40 other kids in her group.
"It's a great effort for any of the kids who get picked across any of the groups through the state."
Honeyman said his daughter's progress is satisfying given her relaxed attitude to the game.

"I was surprised that Maddy got through. She's got the game to do it, but she's there for the fun of it while some other kids there are so serious about it," he said.
"She's got the game, makes it look easy, and doesn't have to work hard for it. Every chance she gets she's out here on the courts."
Honeyman said the efforts of the two talented juniors are a testament to the Eglinton program.
"We're lucky enough that we've got two kids making it through from here," he said.
"It's a great promotion for us as a small club."
The format is a mix of singles and doubles with each association fielding five boys and five girls in a team.
Sheather's Western side will face host association North West in the pool stage along with North Coast, South Coast, Mackillop and CIS.
Hoenyman and Polding sit in the other pool with Sydney East, Sydney West, Sydney South West, Hunter and Riverina.
Western open their tournament against CIS while Polding will face Hunter first up.
The qualification to the Western team adds to what's been a magic summer for Sheather, who has also starred for Bathurst and Mitchell under 12s representative cricket teams.
The NSW Primary Schools Sports Association Tennis Championships will run at Inverell Tennis Club from May 7 to 10.
